Preschool

Hello and Welcome to the National Christian Academy!

We are so pleased with your interest in our Preschool program.  This letter gives a brief introduction and overview of our K3 – K5 offerings.

From its inception, National Christian Academy has utilized the A Beka curriculum.  This curriculum was chosen because of its traditional approach to learning.  Its fundamental theme is Christ and His lordship in every area of human endeavor.  Biblical principles are woven through every skill area.  Academic emphasis is given to phonics and basic math concepts, particularly at the preschool and lower elementary levels.  Through the use daily Bible instruction and Bible memory verses, children are taught that a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ should be the focal point of our lives.

A typical day in our preschool begins with Bible instruction.  These lessons are taken directly from the Bible, God’s Word, and are non-denominational in presentation.  Our mandate is to lead the child to a saving knowledge of Jesus and not toward any denominational doctrine.  Bible instruction is followed by our academic lessons in phonics, reading, and numbers.

Phonics lessons give the student a solid foundation for developing reading skills.  Emphasis is given to letter and sounds recognition, phonetic blending, and the use of phonetic blends to form words.  It is through the use of phonics that reading skills are developed.

Students learn number recognition and concepts as well as simple addition and subtraction by the end of kindergarten.  Children also learn to tell time, count money, number words and number sequences.

Penmanship, science, social studies, computers, music, art, library and Spanish language instruction are also included in the instruction given to preschoolers.  Social skills are developed through classroom instruction as well as special celebration times such as Grandparent’s Day, Black History Month, Christmas and spring programs.  Our goal is to prepare the whole person:  spirit, soul, and body.

Tuition and fees for students in K3 and K4 include the cost of breakfast, lunch, and snack as well as service from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  K5 tuition is the standard tuition rate with lunch, snack and extended care at an additional cost.

I welcome any questions you may have and look forward to serving you and your family at National Christian Academy.

Yours in Christ,
